The Mothership is a mixed media piece using spalted wood and copper-wrapped Micah. This artwork demonstrates my cross discipline ability’s. Made from a naturally sanded wood from the Appalachian Mountains. This wood is considered spalted wood, a staining process created when a fungus impregnates the wood. The Dark green color of the wood is created by the blue elf cup fungus. It is preserved with polyurethane. The stone is Micah, a naturally occurring stone also found in this region. The combination of these natural materials shows us how stunning and abstract the natural world can be.
